Ivor Cullen (78), Our Backbone.

Posted by admin on Jan 28, 2010 under Uncategorized

For the first time, I noticed yesterday that the daylight seems to be pushing the boundaries against the darkness and cold. I can always tell that spring is on its way when our solar lights outside the front of our house actually manage enough battery charge to light up, as briefly as it may currently be. Looking at the Faraway website statistics it confirms my hunch that people are already on the lookout for a nice garden furniture set. Who can blame them? With our short summers, it’s even more important we make the most of it and what better way to do that than with a set of teak garden furniture that would make you brush your hand against it every time you walk by? I would highly recommend however, that before you make any buying decisions, that you should read our Teak Furniture Advice page. It was written by our very own Ivor Cullen who has been building boats in Scotland using Teak and Oak since he was 14 years old! He is, this year celebrating his 78th birthday. There is nothing there is to know about teak that Ivor does not know. It never ceases to amaze me how, at the age of 78 years young, he is still as enthusiastic about teak as he was when he first picked up a chisel and mallet. He reads and replies each and every email sent to him for advice from customers and non customers alike. He has helped many people who have been bitten by unscrupulous e-tailers who sell cheap teak that falls apart after a few weeks by writing his expert opinion on the teak and manufacturing process and the reasons for the eventual failure. He has even gone as far as appearing in court as an expert in his field to help one particular gentlemen get his money back from a well know e-tailer (since than they are now trading under a different name) He has done a great job as our quality control officer, and emphasising and supporting our good old fashioned customer service ethos. We love you Ivor and hope you can be with us for at least another 10 years.

Competition Update: Congrats To Debby Morris from Humberside!

Posted by admin on Jan 19, 2010 under Uncategorized

Debby Morris is one of a total of 146 successful entries that we received to our “win an Antigua set worth £1500″ competition. She was picked out of a bag this morning and notified. We have not heard back from her as of yet. Let’s hope she remembers that she entered the competition and not assumed it was some sort of hoax. I will call her first thing in the morning to try again.

In the mean time, we have just announced our next competition and this time you can win a complete 8 seater indoor solid teak dining set, The Maui. A real stunning piece of furniture currently selling for £1200. To enter, please visit this page: Competition Page

The only tip I can give you is that the name is NOT on the blog but on the main site. We have already had 6 correct answers. Good luck everyone.
